GARY WRIGHT
1975
Foster Auditorium
Gary Wright spent several years in the English rock and blues band Spooky Tooth before starting a solo career. Among fans, his work was well known. Wright had become close to George Harrison of The Beatles and contributed various piano tracks to the seminal “All Things Must Pass” box set. By the time he headlined the show in Tuscaloosa, Wright was on the charts with a pair of songs from the 1975 “The Dream Weaver” album, including the title track, a typical 1970s number with plenty of keyboard swells and pomp, plus another song, “Love is Alive.”
The evening started with British musician Robert Palmer, who would return to headline a show at the Bama Theatre in Downtown Tuscaloosa a short time later in October 1976.
